YOUNG SHERLOCK KNIT CAP

The idea for this hat came about years ago when my daughters first tiptoed around the house as little detectives.  Inspired by Sherlock Holmes' original chapeau, this knit cap appears complicated, but is actually quite simple to make.  I hope you enjoy the creative process and that your kids enjoy a lifetime of mystery-solving and adventure!

FIELD DAY

Vintage cheerleader uniforms and field hockey kilts – all those pleats take me back to a simpler time. Field Day is an updated take on this design, featuring inverted box pleats in contrasting fabric and constructed with French seams for a clean tailored finish. The pleats drape and twirl – and everybody knows that little girls love to twirl – while the top band of the skirt gathers with an elasticized waistband to fit your girly for years and years.

EVERYDAY Cowl

This cowl got its name because I wear it pretty much each and everyday, a loose handknit tube that is simply pulled overhead to keep your neck warm when it’s there's a chill in the air.  Knit in the round with a simple repeat, giving the piece movement and complementing the beautiful color changes of the yarn.

PDF includes easy-to-follow instructions and full color images.

You'll need 1 ball of Noro Taiyo (40% cotton, 30% silk, 15% wool, 15% nylon - 100g/200m) + a US 7 (4.5mm) 24” circular needle. You can easily adapt this to accommodate other light worsted weight yarn - instead of self-striping yarn, try a kettle-dyed wool/silk.

Measures (as a tube) about 12” wide x 10” high. Please note, this will vary depending on your gauge and the yarn you choose.

SUMMER CRUSH

I really love pieces that enter a girl's wardrobe as a dress/tunic and grows with her, evolving into a top. This cute little number comes together so quickly with one seam and a bit of simple sewing. You’ll most likely be casting on another as you + girly will be smitten with your Summer Crush.

One size fits ages 2 through 5 or 6 years, and measures - neck opening 4.5”, neck-to-hem 12”, chest circumference 22”, hem circumference 31”.

NANA

“Waste not want not,” my Nana used to say. That phrase echoes in my mind as I swoon over the bin of leftover yarn balls from other projects - I can't seem to throw them away. GRANNY

Meet Granny ~ a soft, roomy and shapely felted wool bag you’re sure to love. Made entirely in one piece with no seaming, this pattern is simple to follow ~ dare I say even meditative. Pattern includes instructions for the basic bag, which is ready for personal touches such as needle felting, embroidery, or just the perfect brooch. As a bonus, I've included two additional variations for easy-to-follow colorwork.
