with the start of school right around the corner (less than 2 weeks, oh my!), the girls are working their way back into a routine of early to bed + early to rise. this year, instead of rush rush rush in the morning, my goal is to have a little extra time in the AM for us to sit down and enjoy a power breakfast together.
this week: steelcut oatmeal w/ frozen blueberries + buckeye muffins w/ half a nectarine. another standby is eggs (scrambled or boiled) + fruit, and of course cheerios topped with a handful of berries of some sort is another favorite. not only do these foods keep them fueled all morning, but our time together at the table (hopefully) puts them in the right frame of mind for exploring + learning each day.
science camp this week has allowed us the opportunity for a trial run of earlier bedtimes and determining how much padding will be needed in their mornings to get ready on time without any nagging encouragement from me. so far so good!
what are some favorite breakfasts that your family enjoys when mornings are in school-mode? i'd love to hear about the special things you do to get your kids into the back-to-school frame of mind and ready to make the most of each day. xoxo
