jennifer here again - hi friends!
i have been busily working on a big project during every available moment, and one of my favorite new CDs to enjoy from end to end while working is the latest by The Shins, Port of Morrow.
i give you a little monday morning treat for the senses. while the video is a bit dark visually, sonically it is incredible -
i am very curious as a consumer as well as a musician, how many of you still buy CDs?
it seems like so much is about downloads nowadays. and singles especially. boo. i appreciate the artistry in a complete work presented by musicians. i like to feel the album from beginning to end. don't get me wrong, i have been known to purchase "party rockin in the house" and other fun singles like the rest of the world, but the creation and consumption of music is so very different now than it was during the first 35 years of my life, and even more noticeable over the 5 albums i have been a part of recording. but i guess if i am thinking about it, that makes me truly appreciate a cohesive album like the one mentioned above - and that isn't a bad thing. not bad at all. if you have an interest in this discussion, read this article on the Etsy blog and take the time to read the linked articles and responses.
really interesting food for thought. xoxo
