upon returning home from our recent trip to a certain southern seaside slice of heaven, we were greeted by a nearly 5 foot tall bush of basil and a garden full of tomato plants heaving with plump, red, ripe, juicy goodness.
in a few hours, there were a dozen half-pints of ridiculously gorgeous green pesto in the freezer as well as a simple and most delicious dinner in the oven. it was so good, the girls and i made it again the next day for lunch. we've since given away several dozen tomatoes to neighbors and the like (although the cherry ones never seem to make it into the house) and the plants are still going strong.
thank you, garden. you have been very good to us. xoxo
