this summer, i finally came to my senses and arranged for a babysitter to come over once a week. just for a few hours. oh, but how those few hours can mean so much - even the simple knowledge that it is on the calendar translates into a few extra ounces of patience when i need them. in the past few weeks, i've taken advantage of these precious 120 minutes to get out and about, expediting all those many missions that would normally take much much longer and require considerable patience.
but today, it was simple - i had a mission. and that mission it was inside the house. in my little sewing room, to be specific. i've been commissioned to make a large quilt for a special little one in a land far far away and the project was in need of the love and attention that sporatic sewing cannot provide. so today, the babysitter and i lathered the littles with sunscreen and the three of them went outside. and i was alone in the house. ALONE IN THE HOUSE, PEOPLE! and while they played and ran and had a tea party, you know what i learned?
they had fun + i had fun = goodbye mama-guilt. and the quilt top is pieced and ready for embroidery. i'd say that is progress on many levels.
now, with more sunscreen, bathing suits, a snack-filled cooler and floaties in the car, we're headed down to the lake for the rest of the day. progress, my friends. and yes, a small knitting project is in there, too. a lovely weekend to you all! xoxo
