from time to time, i can be quite the last minute maker. and with a week ahead of firsts - soccer practice, swimming lessons - a preschool field trip plus 3 different little ones turning 4, each with his/her own spectacular celebration... well, i am quite crunched for time. but a week ago i received a baby shower invite for my dear friend's daughter, and i knew what i would be doing with any spare moment.
it didn't hurt that grandmama-to-be was less than subtle about something handmade, especially when i donated a quilt to their farm auction a few months back. i really wanted to have a dna-molecule feel to the quilt, since the mama is a geneticist, so i'm going for modified-zigzag-meets-whole-cloth quilt. so far, i am loving the top and look forward to a few hours stitching in solace this evening to see where the concept flows. sure, i could have gotten right on the quiltmaking way back when, but there was time. and what's the fun in that, right? plus, there's something exciting about the immediacy of the shower. on saturday. so enough with the blogging - time to get back to it. xoxo
