a sweet acquaintance from the girls' dance class has just welcomed baby #3, a delightful little bundle named nora. she's been wearing her brother's newborn hand-me-downs for two weeks now and her mama keeps mentioning how she needs to steal away to get a few pink things for the little one.
okay, twist my arm.
it's always a special thrill to make something for someone you are completely certain will enjoy a handmade gift. this particular mama enjoys crochet and chit-chatted with me each week as i worked on the bias blanket last autumn. we have talked about sewing at length, pondered the mystery of sergers and all that fun stuff, so i am pretty sure she'll dig it. to make it, i basically looked at the general shape of this dress and then made a teeny tiny pattern. the top is a linen/cotton, the bottom and facing fabrics were in my stash (from superbuzzy), and i couldn't resist those little eyelets i found while looking for rickrack.
oh yeah, did i mention the girls asked for a baby for Easter? sure did. and for a split second i wished i was a few years younger. then i stepped on a small and surprisingly painful basket that dorothy used to carry toto around on halloween... and came to my senses straight away. how about a chocolate bunny? xoxo

my sincerest thank you for your warm embrace yesterday - it is both reassuring and inspiring to know that so many of us share these thoughts about the struggle and desire to find a sense of equilibrium with our life choices. here's to work in progress, my friends! xoxo
