i could not, in good conscience, send the girls off to preschool with the store-bought-cartoon-character valentines they tossed into the shopping cart the other day. here are a few reasons ::
- the process of "making" them required no imagination.
- mama was very close to losing her cool while trying to help little 4-year-old hands attempt to cram their names into the teeny tiny spot on each card, making the entire experience an unpleasant one for all.
- um hello, store bought. enough said.
and so, this afternoon we enjoyed 3 (yes THREE) hours of cutting and glueing and stickering and glittering and googly-eyeing. and they each wrote their name 19 times. we now have cartoon-character scrap paper on the drawing table. and everyone had a blast making valentines. balance in the crafting universe is restored, thank goodness.
i'll be back in a day or so with a special valentine for you. xoxo
