satisfy my soles

decisions decisions

a few hours to myself sunday afternoon had me heading to another LYS questing for koigu.  dear me, is that some lovely stuff.  almost three years back, that sweet scout sourced a handful of skeins for me to make the girls each a pinwheel blanket.  since then, however, those twisty skeins have eluded me.  until now - definitely worth a drive into the city.  you see, it seems i have developed a bit of a crush on knitting socks.

preppy footies

i got to chitchatting with one of the employees at said yarn shop about how so many knitters say - as i did for years - that we'll never knit socks.  no way no how.  the lure of the beautiful sock yarns might be enough to get us to add a few (cough cough) skeins to our stash, but nonetheless we say never and continue on pretending it isn't in the cards.  that is until we realize that socks don't have to be that difficult.  in fact, they are rather fun, quick to knit up and best of all :: they are portable!

footies + leftovers

if you are looking for a winner of a first-time sock pattern, try these BMG footies on for size - super simple and a very satisfying quick knit.  i knit both pair with fabulous vesper sock yarn which got me to take the plunge into sock knitting in the first place.  and best of all, once you are done, there will still be plenty of sock yarn left over from the big ole skein to make a second pair, or a set of leg warmers for the little ones, or wristwarmers for a friend, or maybe all of the above.  xoxo

+ + + + +

it's good to be back - i tell you i really missed this space the past few weeks.  i hope you are well and also enjoying a new project or two.  do tell!  xoxo

and thanks for your notes/emails about my attempts at channeling macguyver to repair my laptop before the holidays.  i'm pleased as punch to report that after procrastinating a few weeks, i sent it off to HP who sprinkled it with magic and had it back to me good as new in one week.  nice work, people!  that totally made up for the customer service guy who was eating while talking to me on the phone the other day.
