a small dent has been made in my crafting to-do list.
i cannot show too much of the playmats just yet, as i want them to be a surprise to the mama-to-be. what i will reveal is that they are for twins, so you know i spent a lot of time working this out. there are many paired squares, but also some unique bits for each piece. and the configuration of each patchwork top is totally one-of-a-kind. as it should be.
i made good use of the preschool/free-time window this morning to pick up backing fabrics and hope to have both pieces quilted + washed + in the mail by early next week. then it's on to complete a few more creative endeavors ::

baby quilt to be auctioned at the upcoming farm benefit;

baby quilt + mama goodies for a dear friend expecting her first little one very soon;

finish socks for sissy (and remember to write down the pattern);

get the band rock ready to do the thing we can't talk about yet;

work on that other thing i am determined to complete soon, then send it off + see what happens.
the order of things is a bit off, since there are a few deadlines to be considered. and then there's that whole fitting-it-into-one's-life thing, you know. *sigh* but i am not complaining - wonderful events, amazing opportunities, and lots of happy dreams.
