1. paired squares, 2. twin quilted playmats [hers], 3. twin quilted playmats [his], 4. baby got back
it took a little while for me to figure out just how to make these playmats for andrea's little ones. it started as a simple giveaway, but evolved - as these things do - into something much more meaningful.
being a mother of twins, i wanted to convey that feeling - the children are siblings, created at the same time of basically the same materials yet possessing a uniqueness all their own. and so, after considerable stewing, i created paired squares and lots of them - some split into rectangles and other triangles; natural linen interspersed with some favorite reproductions (i swear i wasn't trying to be funny) as well as cute japanese prints here and there, all constrasted against a blank canvas of crisp white cotton. both also have a splash of pink/blue (just because) as well as a very special center square to echo the sentiment we emphasize with our own children - no matter what, no matter where, they will always have one another.
it's been a pleasure, andrea - thank you for the opportunity! xoxo
