upon reading amiee's post yesterday about the power of the list, i was inspired to pare down my daily to-do lists, since they seldom (if ever cough cough) are entirely checked off.
setting such huge expectations as to what can be accomplished in a day was totally setting myself up for failure and frequently resulting in my complete abandon of the to-do ship for any given day. this, in turn, made further lists even longer, undesirable, and menacing, if i might add.
keeping it short and sweet (ok, maybe not sweet) is key. and focusing in on one element of a larger task helps, i imagine - let's face it, "clean the house" ain't gonna get done, am i right? but "clean the kitchen" one day and "clean the bedrooms" the next may actually happen since it is do-able and won't eat up the entire day. so here we go, today's list ::
* package orders
* fold laundry
* put away laundry
* wrap max's gift
* assemble a meal for max's family
* clean studio
so, any guesses where i started while the girls were at preschool?
ok, so i'm only half done as of right now, but they've settled into some quiet play time, and i'm about to tackle my cutting/work table :: [brace yourself]
hey, i warned you. no fear though, it is do-able and i so look forward to crossing it off today's list and completing most of the others before the hour is up. my motivation being the promise of a few hours of solitary sewing this evening, after the littles are in bed. better get a move on! xoxo
