this is Koa, the most amazing patchwork sea turtle one ever could imagine, made lovingly by Herbst Handmade. he came to live with us initially because I fell in love with him. but upon his arrival, my husband quickly shot me that look of "what were you thinking???" and said i should prepare for the battle to end all battles because he had that feeling that this would be something the girls would most definitely not share.
let me just say that the concepts of share is something we are working on. a lot. it's hard for siblings, especially multiples who have never known "alone", to constantly have to share everything. at this age, they aren't quite receptive to lengthy discussions, so we just talk about how sharing is something wonderful that people do, though it should not be the expectation of everyone with everything. sissy understands the concept of share to be that when she shouts SHARE at anyone, they are to immediately give her what they have. what's mine is mine and i think i want yours as well. not cool... like i said, we're working on it.
so as we continue to make advances in sharing, i have also introduced trade. this one seems to be catching on a bit quicker, especially in the car with books. thank goodness. but until Koa's sibling arrives (yes, i custom ordered another one with a sobbing toddler on my lap, yes i did), i am not sure this little turtle will be traded. for anything. not even for dried mango.
